Did you know people in some countries can’t sell crafts on popular marketplaces like Etsy? I discovered this for myself after moving from Dallas to Beijing! That’s why I started Crafter’s Friend, a service that connects designers with U.S.-based account holders. It works like this: designers create, we handle store management, and account holders earn payments simply by maintaining marketplace accounts.
As of January 14, 2026, we are currently accepting new partners. This notice will be removed when all slots are filled.

Crochet, knitting, and sewing patterns are the best-selling items in the arts and crafts world.
The most successful designers don’t sell the finished products. They sell the “patterns,” which are like blueprints, as digital downloads. The best places to sell patterns are on marketplaces like Etsy, Ribbler, or Ravelry.
Even if you’re not an arts and crafts designer, you can still make money from this booming industry, thanks to Crafter’s Friend.
Unfortunately, people who live in certain countries can’t sell their patterns on the best marketplaces like Etsy or Ravelry. I found this out the hard way when I moved to Beijing in 2023.
I’m Grace, by the way… born and raised in Dallas. Yes, I’m a LOOONG way from home!
I decided I wasn’t going to let a little thing like my location on the planet stop me from pursuing my passion. I love to crochet and knit, and I’m great at making patterns people love.
So, I partnered up with a friend back in Texas. I offered her a deal she couldn’t refuse: 40% of ALL of my earnings would go directly to her. All she had to do was create a few accounts on marketplaces like Etsy, and I took care of the rest (and I mean all of it).
In about 10 months, my shop was making around $2,800 per month. This meant that my friend Kimberly (hey Kimmers!), who has never even HELD a knitting needle in her life, started making $1,120 per month!
What if I told you that I wanted to offer you the same deal?
A 40% cut of all earnings… while someone else does all the work.

As it turns out, there are a lot of people around the world who want to live their dream and make a decent living doing what they love, but just because of where they live, they don’t have access to the same opportunities as those of us in America. I first realized this when I wanted to start an Etsy shop. Even though I’m a U.S. citizen, because I’m physically located in China, I’m not allowed to open a store. There are thousands of other people just like me.
In countries like China, Croatia, Poland, and many more, creative designers are barred from opening accounts on many of the most popular websites where everyone else gets to build a great business selling their crafting patterns.
This didn’t sit right with me.
So, I decided to become I guess what you could call a broker, or matchmaker. That’s why my website is called “Crafter’s Friend.” I connect crafters from around the world with Americans who want to help and get paid. As the person living in America, all you have to do is help connect hard-working designers with their hungry audiences.
Here’s the crazy part… what we’re doing doesn’t even break any of the rules.
Nothing we do breaks the Etsy Terms of Service (or the terms of service on any other marketplace).
Here’s the “loophole” that Etsy and the other crafting marketplaces are totally okay with: account holders (you) are explicitly allowed to have an “account manager” (us). We also grant you a “reseller’s license,” which gives you the right to sell products you didn’t create yourself.
You get paid, we get paid. It’s that simple.
To be absolutely clear, you will never have to pay a dime to be part of this opportunity. Never!
So, what exactly are you expected to do?
At most, you’ll spend a few hours setting up accounts at Etsy and elsewhere (which you will always have full ownership of and access to), then 20-30 minutes per week thereafter logging into those accounts from your laptop or phone to check up on how your sales are doing. When you get a payout from one of the marketplaces like Etsy, you keep 40% for yourself. We send you an invoice for the rest. Easy peasy!
When you decide to become a Crafter’s Friend partner, here’s what you’ll get:

I will be your single point-of-contact, available to be contacted 24/7 via call or text (I maintain a US-based number). If you have questions or need help, I’m here!

Even though we’re doing all of the behind-the-scenes work, you’re still protected with permission to sell our designer’s products on your marketplace accounts.

Not only do we manage listings on marketplaces like Etsy, we also grant partners an exclusive website for product sales. Over time, this increases income dramatically.

As a partner, you will NEVER be asked to pay additional charges or hidden fees. You only pay us for our portion of the shared earnings after you get paid.
Typically, I’m able to work with 10-20 partners at a time. If you’re accepted and we’re at capacity, you’ll have the option to be added to a waiting list so I can let you know when a slot opens up for you. New slots don’t open very often, as the vast majority of our partners stay with us for extended periods of time. However, I’m always working on expanding our capabilities, so get in touch!
As of January 15, 2026, we are currently accepting new partners. This notice will be removed when all slots are filled.
It’s easy to become a Crafter’s Friend partner.
Here are the requirements:
You are 18 years or older.
You reside in the United States.
You’re eligible for accounts with: Etsy, Ravelry, Ribblr, Stripe, and PayPal.
That’s it!

Since Crafter’s Friend is a pretty small project, I don’t require a complicated approval process for you to become a partner. It’s easier to just have a conversation with you. It’s not an “interview,” I basically just need to make sure you meet the above requirements and want to get an idea of how serious you are (we try to only work with people who are willing to stick around for the long haul).
By far, the easiest way to get started is to just call me or send me a text message at (469) 225-9322. I keep a U.S. number so that people don’t have to worry about international calling. If you do a voice call, please leave a voicemail as I’m not always able to answer calls due to the time zone difference or simply being busy. Text is always easier for me. 🙂
You can also email me, but I may take a little longer to get back to you.
Talk to you soon,
Grace
